To my knowledge Utah made baiting big game illegal a number of years ago. Must have an exception for salt licks since you're asking about it.

You're right. I looked it up and they banned it in 2021. So much for the summer plans to put out a salt lick lol

I realize that this may have been a rhetorical question, but it is legal to bait elk in WA (less than 10 gallons).

For what it's worth, most the big trail cam guys I know just use rock salt.

Yes and no. You can't hunt over it or where it was placed but you can put it out before or after the season. Dates are something like jan-july if I recall

Colorado no baiting to entice or otherwise make it easier to take big game animals. This falls under the illegal to feed wildlife, so it's a nonstarter in Colorado.

Just go ask the cowboys where they put out salt blocks for their cattle on NF lands. They’ll tell ya.
