I’ve got a Savage Ultralight in 280ai that’s sweet. Good trigger, carbon 22 in barrel and shoots well.

What calibers would you suggest, most shots would be 300yds or less but occasionally up to 500yds max.

This has a wood stock. Maybe worth a look.
I would like to stick with something similar to a 270 she will have more confidence shooting, but I have seen many mule deer and elk drop like a sack of potatoes with a 243This would be a great rifle.
Not sure of your stance on 223 but I took down a cow with ease at 410 yards this year with one.
Can always thread them too if you hunt supressed (I do)
I'm not opposed to this it seems like a good deal. Does anyone on here have experience with sauer good or bad I know nothing about them.

I have a browning A-bolt in 270wsm. It’s been my favorite and go to rifle for about 17 years now. 270 would be a great choice and you can buy great factory ammo off the shelf just about anywhere.I would prefer that if I can find one. If not I was eyeballing the browning xbolt2 hunter in 270 win.

I'll 3rd it. I have the same gun and it fits the needs for my wife.I'm a second vote for this. I got my wife the Camilla in 7mm-08 but they offer several chamberings. It's a gorgeous rifle and the stock is specifically made for women, with a negative angle on the butt pad, a shorter length of pull, raised comb, etc. It's basically 90% of what you'd want from a true custom but at a good price and readily available.
Buy a fierce. They shoot exceptionally well for a great price. 7prc suppressed is nothing for recoil. If not suppressed go 6.5 prc.I'm looking for a new elk/mule deer rifle for my wife. She currently has a semi automatic 30-06 that is notorious for jamming. I'm really interested in a 280 Ackley improved but I'm not interested in any of the rifles I have found online. How much does a custom rifle run on a budget?
