What is the most recommend pack for elk hunting? I'm going to guess something from the Kifaru line?

On this site you get a lot of Kifaru support. But there's other great pack companies too. Your question is a hard one to answer without more details. Are you backpack hunting or hunting from a basecamp? How many days of supplies do you need to haul in your pack? What other gear do you expect your pack to hold (spotting scopes, rifle, bow, etc)? What price do you want to pay? What sort of pockets and accessibility do you want your pack to have? I'd start answering some of those questions and then you will have a better idea of what pack will best suit your needs. There's no "one" right pack.

The plan right now is to hike in, setup basecamp, and then hunt out of the basecamp. Figure 5-7 days of supplies.

Gear will include a spotting scope, tripod and rifle, along with everything else needed to camp.

I will pay for quality gear.

I like packs that have one main pocket, a few side pockets would be nice if they could fit my tripod and spotting scope.

A few packs to research would be:
Kifaru duplex or bikini timberline or highcamp
Mystery Ranch 6500 or metcalf
Stone glacier
Kuiu Icon
These are the more quality pack on the market that you will find the most information about.
I personally use the kifaru duplex timberline series. The frame fits my body very well. As stated before there are a ton of guys that use kifaru on here and while they are a great pack there are pros and cons to each pack I listed.
You are looking at the right forum for information. Look these pack up online and whatever questions you have about each will get answered on here.

The Duplex is what I've been looking at. I assume I will need one of the Kifaru frames and then the bag gets mounted to the frame?

What is the difference between the hunting platform frame and the bikini platform? What size bag should I be looking at for a week long trip?

The duplex is the hunting platform frame. It is more rugged as it is a solid frame that follows the contour of your back. I would get the timberline 1 bag as it compresses down small as well as has plenty of room for week long excursions with extra room. The timerberline bag has long side pockets for spotter and tripod and back pockets for small items you want readily accessible.

The bikini frame has gotten really good reviews but I haven't tried one.

I would also recommend the Timberline 1 bag on whichever frame you think would work best for you.

Your best bet is to contact Aron Snyder of Kifaru and he will get you set up with what will work best for you.

The packs already mentioned are top notch hunting packs that won't disappoint you. Make sure to get at least a 5000 ci bag. I prefer around 7000 ci, because I don't want to run out of room, and end up lashing a bunch of crap to the outside.

I like the Mystery Ranch pack bags better than the Kifaru bags, but I never need for than about 3000 cui. Thus I like the MR Longbow, or something even smaller like the Tactical Tailor Removable Operator Pack attached to the MR NICE frame. If I need more capacity I can add my Hill People Gear C20M packbag.

If you decide to go MR, check out Oneiros Valley for some worthwhile upgrades:
