Elk load

what is ya'lls go to elk load? My knight likes 300gr xtp's in green sabot over 100gr pyrodex. Not sure that bullet would put 2 holes in an elk. Anyone have experience with no excuse bullets or used great plains bullets for elk?

The Traditions Vortek Strikerfire shoots 300 gr .45 XTP's, Harvester Crushed Rib sabot, 110 grains BH209 and CCI mag 209 gets it done on elk and deer.

My old .54 Knight shoots 300 gr cast 454 bullets, MMP red sabot, 110 gr's Pyrodex and Win 209 primers and has no problem blowing through an elk at 120 yards which is the furthest it has shot an elk at.

I shoot a custom Hawken rifle .62 cal. using a 342 gr round ball .020 pillow ticking lubed with mink oil over 140 gr of GOEX FF.
