@Ryan Avery and I ended up talking for over four hours. We split it into two podcasts. This is part one. Part two drops this afternoon and I’ll post it here as well.
First off, big thanks to Ryan for the time. I’ve spent a lot of hours talking with him outside of podcasts, and I think his real-world experience is still undervalued by a lot of the hunting community. I know I’m preaching to the choir a bit with the Rokslide crowd, but Ryan has a perspective that’s hard to find. He’s tried just about every path to get better at elk hunting. He’s the only person I know who has packed with goats, llamas, horses, and mules and actually gone through the learning curve with all of them. A lot of folks look at drop testing, cartridge discussions, and gear conclusions and skip right past the years of trial and error that these things involve. We dive into a bunch of that.
Ryan also has a deep understanding of the hunting industry itself. The good and the bad. Hope you guys enjoy this one.
And yes, long term goal is still a live stream mud wrestling match between Tim Sundles, Ryan, and Form.
These last few interviews have been fun.
