Elk call

I am new to elk hunting as you can tell from my previous post.

My question this go around is do I need an elk call?

This is all so new to me so I thank you for all the advice and guidance .

From looking at your previous posts you'll be hunting one of the rifle seasons so a call is not really necessary BUT I carry a hoochie momma and feel naked without it tied to my belt, I have killed a number of elk after jumping them in the timber and squeezing the hoochie as they are moving out, it stops them long enough to get a shot at them. This past season my cousin called in 2 bulls during 1st rifle with a hoochie, one of which was a 6x6 that he killed. They're not the greatest sounding calls but easy enough to use that my then 7 year old daughter called in a bull during 2nd rifle.

Not required and is simply a tool in the tool box.

A cow call can stop a bull who doesn't know what spooked him. And it doesn't hurt to know what sounds you might hear while hunting elk.
