Elk call for someone with terrible gag reflex?

I have the same problem. I can use a call for a minute or two and then I gag and am not able to use it anymore. My gag reflex is so strong that I can’t even brush my teeth without gagging. I bought some numbing throat spray called pro blo (you don’t have to have much of an imagination to figure out its original intended use), it has helped me some but I still gag. Maybe it will help you.

Take a look at the mini master from Rocky Mountain Hunting Calls. It is the smallest frame in the lineup and might work. Key is further forward and if need be slide it back just a tad. If your pallet is so small you may never be able to use a diaphragm. The other small frame is the Kristy Titus line. Another smaller frame that might work.

Lots of good stuff mentioned. I would also check out the "matriarch" made by rocky mountain hunting calls/Steve Chappell. Chappell has a youtube channel where he spends a lot of time explaining how to use an external call and use it well.

Thunder bugle should work well and Primos Hyperlip single .

I use the small size primos ones, I tend to gag on all the normal size ones.

The jokes write themselves.

Are external calls more challenging or easier to use than diaphragm calls?
