I called in 16 bulls last year using a gatorade bottle with a hole in the end. I've gone to battle with bulls with no tube at all. When a bull is hot, it don't matter what color your tube is.

Blinginspe, it's not the tube that can be difficult to use it's the learning how to use a mouth reed 1st! If you have conquered mouth reed use the Bugle is for magnifying mostly your bugles, grunts & chuckles in addition to other creative bull sounds!

Wrench, I'm guessing you called these bulls in on draw tag areas & not on OTC bulls? A bit of a difference there! (grin) It's just a hunch bud!

Well of course a bigger tube is better....I used to make all kind of mods to my tubes back in the day this was my luckiest one made from a Carlton standard adding a big Abe bell to it it was very lucky until the day I lost it🥳 the bugle tubes today add much better reasonance and simply take any tinny sound out providing a much crisper and authentic sound to round out the call...not necessarily bigger but better quality and design today to help your skillz.....50BA986F-F4A8-453B-B6D6-BB5229F9A065.jpeg

Phelps Unleashed (big tube) up until this year, I like the pitch of this Wapiti Whacker. The small Phelps has my interest, just for space savings. As many have mentioned, the reed and the user are more critical.

I can run a Turkey diaphragm pretty fair. Does that hold any water to.calling a elk?

I read that turkey reeds are where elk reeds originated from. Someone figured out elk could be called in with a turkey reed and alas, the elk reed was born. Musta been Wayne Carlton.......

I assumed that would be true, but they were very different for me. Although they look similar, the mechanics of making elk sounds were not the same as calling turkeys.

A couple weeks of practice and watching instructional videos got me to the point where I believed I could get it done. Still need alot of practice, but my calling sounds decent. With a little time and patience, you will get it.
