Eliminate 20 yard pin?

So after the season ends, I look back and try to improve/simplify my setup. Elk hunting especially, I have been thinking about why I need a 20 yard pin? My 30 hits just 1-2” high at 20. Not a deal breaker on elk. I am considering a 3 pin 30-40-50 setup with the 50 being a slider. Cleans up the sight picture and anything beyond 50 really should be dialing anyhow.
Im shooting 278 fps with 488 grain arrows, so plenty of speed.
Anybody do this or something similar?
If so, I like the idea of the spot Hogg triple stack vertical pin design, but wonder if the vertical pins block out too much target to make an accurate shot. Horizontal pins allow you to see between them, but I think the vertical pins may give another reference point for aim.
Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe 20, 35, 50? Would increase pin gaps some but also give that close pin.

I run a 3 pin slider.

30,40,50....My first pin is actually dead on at 27yds

IMO absolutely zero reason to have a 20 yard pin unless your bow is really slow.

I run a 5 pin:

Point Blank-30-40-50-60

Being a treestand hunter, I make sure my 20-yard pin is dead on at 2-yard point blank range.....Killed a pile of deer at point blank range (Right under my tree).

I have the triple stack and have heard guys complain about the pin blocking the view. I shot my middle pin at 80 for awhile last night and it was right in the group with the arrows off my top pin. If I set my top pin at 20 my pins gaps set up at 20-40-50

I use a HHA single pin slider sight set at 30 yards. I hold dead on 0-30 and high(but still in the kill zone) out to 40 yards. My bow is set at 60 lbs.

Can't do it. I like to shoot spots and some indoor 3d with close shots so nice to have. I have a double up single pin. When 1st is at 20, 2nd at is 33 and where the level is about 45.

DON'T DO IT!!!!

This branch that was at 20 yards is what I have to show for 2022 on what should have been an easy shot at a nice bull who was at 30...

I use a SpotHoggFather with 2-pin sight housing. With my aging eyesight, trying to keep larger sight picture.
When hunting, 1st pin always at 30, at that position my 2nd pin is 40-yds dead on. The SpottHogg yardage tape is very accurately set up.
Practice the 30yd setting at 15-20-35 yards distance, up & down hill, to know where that 30 pin setting hits at those ranges. The 40 setting is practiced at 45 & 50 yds. At 50 in case no time to dial up sight wheel.
With my bow set up & practice on level ground, the real yardage gap stays consistent:
pin@40 2nd>50yd, @50>62, @60>73.

know thy equipment and how it preforms...practice=proficiency.

Right now my 3 pins are set at 30, 45, and 60 here. 60 is my current self imposed max. My bow shoots 315 fps so my gaps are too tight if I set pins any closer together. One tip for this type of setup is do a good percentage of your practice at the off pin ranges, 5-25, 35-40 and 50-55) so you get used to splitting pins.

I use a two pin slider, I’m good from point blank to about 50, with that said it requires a lot of practice on gap shooting to know where my 30&41 hit at different ranges, ie im about 8 inches lower than my 41 at 50 and 5 inches high 5 yards with my 30.

Yep I got rid of my 20 years ago. My pins start at 30. My 20 and 30 are like an inch apart on target. For close stuff I aim just a touch down. Has worked well for

My set up is similar, 465gr arrow at 290fps. NO need for a 20 unless I am hunting turkeys or something else that small. I think it was almost 15 years ago since I had a 20 yard pin.

Did it last year and I will never go back. If your pulling 65lbs or so and not trying to shoot 500g arrows then it just makes sense.
