Last year I started packing meat/cheese bagel sandwiches using an everything bagel, 2 slices of cheese and 3 slices of salami. I vac packed and froze them before my fall moose hunt and they worked out great. This year we used moose summer sausage and a fat slice of smoked Gouda cheese and they were even better.
Now the reason for the post...about 4 days into this years hunt we got our sandwiches out and made some beef bone broth. As I sat with my sandwich resting over my cup of bone broth my buddy looked at me and we had the same thought. Dip it in the bone broth! Well that turned into cutting it into chunks and dropping it into a cup of bone broth. The melting cheese and bone broth soaked bagel is amazing. So backcountry moose dip sandwiches were born and became a highlight of this trip.
