The difference is IMMEDIATELY NOTICEABLE... when you make the jump up to a buy-once-cry-once eCaller, Man.
At first, when you're using cheapie remote eCallers... you're dealing with frustrating remote actuation performance, and the entry-level ones can sound horrible, in terms of fidelity. Like bad enough you've GOT to figure the animal can tell the difference too. The X24 though? Naw man... if you have a good High-Bitrate recorded sound? It sounds just like that "thing" is right there screaming! The clarity is unreal!
The cheapie one (Icotec G300 I think?) sounded really bad, fidelity-wise, in comparison.
The Grim Reaper 2? If they worked out the spotty performance of the remote, and upped their QA... that unit COULD HAVE done a lot better. You could even easily load it up with your own sounds if you're decently computer savvy. But still you're not getting big, penetrating the thick stuff well volume.
And don't even get me started on the cost of running a unit that DOESN'T run on a Rechargeable battery! Cause ya figure ya gotta at least buy the non-rechargeable Lithiums so the battery won't splooge and cause erosion of the contacts within your device, since it's my understanding that lithium batteries CAN'T do that! But they're NOT cheap.
The X24's Battery? I really don't know how long it runs for... to tell ya the truth... because as long as it's at a location where I know they're at? I'm just out there to get my one and done, then I'm happy and make the long drive back home to the city. And honestly? It doesn't take all that long for one to come in at this one spot I'm thinking of. I even had one come in, in like literally 8 damn seconds! I was actually kinda re-fidgeting with getting comfortable with my sit in the Beard-buster sit-cushion, so it caught me off guard! HA!
Meh.. well... I have played the X24's a decent bit on some outings where like I'm trying out a new to me area. So ya have to "carpet-bomb" along multiple sit spots, hiking along to each next one.
Definitely make sure you're getting one where they've given it a decent tweeter for those higher frequencies. The higher up past our human-hearing limit of 20Khz the better. Seem to recall the X24's goes up to like, 25Khz or something?
