I am ready to pull the trigger on a ee revelation on Friday. I plan on mostly using this quilt for summer scouting trips and sept archery elk. Would you guys recommend a 10 or 20 degree quilt? I am a warm sleeper and also planning on getting a xtherm. I was originally thinking the ten degree but after thinking it over I’m second guessing myself and think the twenty might be the right route?

Get the 20* but overstuffed to 10*. I personally have found with the 3 EE quilts I've owned that they are a little under filled and overrated (temp wise) comparatively to some bags. I love them, but I'll be getting them overstuffed in the future as it saves me spreading the down around as much.

i just got a 10. kinda wondering if i shouldnt have gotten the 0.

i've used it on a long weekend in the Mojave winter and was very very cold (19 daytime temps). i need to work out the straps better. we shall see.

jury is still out. i'll use in in Peru next month in their winter. this could go sideways..haha.

10 for sure its only a few ounces heavier. I got the 20 and had to send it back to add more down for $65.

Agree with 10* I have a 0* and have been fine down into the teens. It’s a minimal weight penalty, and the great thing is you can always vent it, or stick a leg out if you get hot. I’ve found that in the shoulder seasons I’ll just drape it over myself like a blanket.

What is the difference between a 20F quilt overfilled to 10F vs just a regular 10F quilt? I’m asking since I have a 10F quilt on order but it’ll take a couple of weeks before they start making mine so there would be time to customize things. Looking to take the 10F quilt to 20F with an Xtherm in a Sawtooth.

I just hate when there's cold spots in the quilt and you have to take some time and fluff it all around. When you overstuff, it helps prevent those cold spots from forming and requires less spreading of down as welll as provides a little more warmth. Compared to brands like WM, I find EE doesn't quite stuff the baffles as full. Some like that to save ounces, I prefer the extra down.

For me personally, if 20F was a regularly expected temperature I'd take at least a EE10 and have them overstuff to 0. I've done 20F in my 10* on the xtherm and I get by, however i like a little bit of extra warmth. Obviously YMMV, this is just my personal preference and maybe I'm a colder than average sleeper.

Ps. My experiences are based on EE quilts prior to the latest updates. They now add 5% more down than previously.

Sounds like I’ll get he ten degree bag. I might gonhe overstuffed route but I’m not to sure. Maybe try it out for a season as is and depending if I like it or not maybe I’ll send it in to have stuffing added. Thanks guys

As far as I can tell the revelation doesn’t have a foot box and the enigma does . Meaning the revelation will lay all the way out like a blanket and the enigma has a foot box more like a mummy bag. I could be missing something but I think that’s the main difference

Thanks for the insight ljalberta!

I think I’m gonna take my chances and just go with the regular 10F. This is my first time trying out a quilt and part of wanting to try it is the weight, part of it the comfort people keep talking about. So many variables at play that I’m just gonna take it as a learning experience.

Doesn't have a sewn footbox. Has a zipper so you can run it with a footbox or not, at a small weight penalty.

I went with the 20*, but went with the long, wide. I wish I would have went extra wide just to have more to tuck, but aside from that I have no problem with the temp rating. I'm 6'1", 240 (ish). I would not use the quilt alone for winter camping, but through end of september in central idaho it has been about right. You may want to add a sheet/pad cover to get away from directly sleeping on the xtherm. If you sleep in your baselayer, it isn't bad, but if you don't it can be a bit uncomfortable IMHO. I think adding a lightweight fleece sheet will be the cats meow...TBD this season.

I have an Enigma 0° with overstuff. There's no way it has as much loft or warmth as my WM Antelope 5°.

I use an overstuffed EE 0 deg quilt. It’s comfortable from 5-50 deg. When it’s warm it’s nice to be able to unzip the footbox and use the quilt like a blanket

Go lower.

I had 20 degree ee quilt and I was freezing at night in 40s.
