Ecwcs level 7 parka?

Just ordered one online. Research was vague so how heavy, bulky and warm is this? Anyone know what version of primaloft is used? Sport,gold, eco?

Weight in large is over 2lbs. It's quite bulky, but the warmest synthetic puffy I've used. Not sure on the exact version of Primaloft it uses, but it's old as they haven't updated it.

Just read the ups tracking, says 4.8lbs??? Midway list shipping weight at 2.43lbs??? I wasn’t expecting ultralight and packable just a warm winter coat. How heavy is a shipping box?, I can’t imagine a medium being over 3lbs

Like others have said... it's pretty bulky in the pack, but it's always in my ruck during winter training. Very warm and sized to fit over anything else you might be wearing. I'm 5'10" 185 and wear a large top in almost everything. My L7 parka is a medium and will fit over any layers I have as well as body armor. Makes a good pillow at night too.

I bought one, thing was huge, definitely size DOWN, even for layering, it looked like it'd be great for stand hunting or having at camp, outside material on mine was pretty tough looking...prob the warmest fill on a jacket I've seen except for super puffy expedition down that you hardly see these days

How does it compare to the Sitka Kelvin for warmth? Not concerned about weight, just want to stay warm.

I got what I wanted, an expedition puffy that didn’t need to be ultralight, ultra small or expensive. I got a medium long which fits me perfectly in the arm length. Torso length is what you would expect from a parka, just enough to keep you covered when bending over. It’s a little big around but I’m not swimming in it. For reference I’m 6’2” 170

quite a bit warmer, different category altogether

I can’t speak to other manufacturers, but the Level 7 made by Patagonia is their military version of their DAS parka- a very well thought of piece of kit

Check midwayusa. Mine was $50 shipped for a grade 2 condition, looks brand new to me.

do the pants have side zips by chance? would make it nice for glassing if they could be pulled over pants/boots

Yes they do. But they are very heavy (by comparison) and IMO do not compact well. Great for around camp though

There’s several full zip pants out there. All the high end hunting brands have some and a few mountain brands. I think the heaviest was the kelvin at 27oz the light version about 18.

Look at the WILD THINGS brand, made in America!!

The PCU Level 7 jacket in M/R weighs 2lbs 4.3oz. The pants weigh 1lb 14.4oz.

Beyond gear is also made in the USA, I believe being made in the USA is a requirement for a company to be Berry compliant meaning they can bid on military contracts.

+1 on the warmth of this jacket. From 11k feet in Afghanistan to bitter cold ice fishing trips this jacket has never let me down. It's always in my truck throughout winter.

That's what these parkas are like. A very bulky/heavy sleeping bag.
