Easton Injexion 330 Half-out Tuning

I bought the Injexions in a 330 spine with the 55 grain titanium half-out insert. They were pricey and I'd heard that the 4mm OD arrows were really hard to tune but on the recommendation of my shop, I went for it.

I've been shooting the Axis 340 at 27.5" carbon to carbon with a 100 grain head for the last 5-6 years. They shot well, penetrated well, but I was only at about 415 grains, so I wanted to up the momentum a bit.

Showed up at Xpert Archery in Farmington and began the cut tune process. With the bare shaft, I had a low-nock tear. We actually ended up cutting length off the arrow until we got to 26.5" and we were shooting perfect bullets with the bare shaft. Total weight is 465 grains which is exactly where I wanted to be.

I have a two blade single bevel helix that I'll be screwing on to see how we're doing but I'm hoping everything is good to go.

Many overthink their setup and never stop adjusting...I too used to be that guy!

Archery leaves many always second guessing their setup even when everything is working just great! You will gain a little with the heavier arrow but the 415 gr arrow was more than enough for big game animals you will hunt. I have taken numerous elk with a 387 gr arrow with complete quartering away pass throughs. Granted, that arrow never hit a rib or any other bone. I have also shot numerous elk with my 440 gr arrow and didn't get a passthrough on nearly that same shot. Same broadhead, nearly same point of impact. Always leaves me scratching my head! But I too went with the heavier grain setup do to the added reassurance it gave me!

Before the injexions, I hadn't changed anything except for wraps for the past 5 years...which in today's world is like an eon.

But it's fun to have a new data point as well. Hopefully that data point will be a giant MT bull like yours from a few years ago.
