Easton Axis vs Axis 5mm

So I’ve decided to go with the Axis arrows. As I’ve been looking them up I’ve ran across the standard Axis and the 5mm Axis. I know the 5mm is obviously a smaller diameter. Which one would you guys recommend. Also I believe they come pre fletched. Do you normally keep the fletching or put different fletching on?

Pretty sure they're both the same. Haven't seen an axis that wasn't 5mm or .204 id

Should be the same. Easton is now just marking most, if not all, of their shafts with their size (4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 6.5mm). If you have shafts without the 5mm they are probably an older batch.

Never had a problem with factory fletching; many times it’s better than the fletching job by shops. Nowadays I just get shafts and fletch them myself.

There is a 6mm axis shaft but I think it’s also branded with a UA logo. I haven’t seen them without a UA logo anyways. Completely different arrow so I’m not sure why Easton muddied the waters by doing what they did. Personally a huge fan of the 5mm axis and hit inset. I buy the brass ones and bars to go with them. I haven’t used a factory fletch in years. Nothing wrong with them, they are usually on super good. But pretty much getting a straight fletched three fletch blazer and I prefer other configurations

5mm is the good stuff proven over the last 12+ years flying out of my bows.

The 6mm under armor axis is a marketing ploy to sell the “axis” name at cheaper price in big box stores like Academy. Don’t fall for it. Go with the original! If you are gonna go that route your better off with the Hexx or Bowfire or one of those lines... that way you aren’t paying for the under armor camo and logo that nothing will ever see.

Going axis myself. Think I’m going to order a jig and start fletching so I can try some different combinations. Got all summer to have it ready for September.

The 5mm Axis are hard to beat, IMO. I've been shooting them off and on since they came out over 20 yrs ago.

You get the advantage of a durable skinny arrow that utilizes std components. I like the HIT system but prefer the longer inserts.

Key to these axis shafts is squaring/milling the cut ends on a jig as they aren't perfect right off the saw. If you get a good square polished [for lack of a better term] end, they seat tighter/better against you BH making the whole system straighter and stronger.

Go with the axis 5mm. If you want a custom arrow call Chris at the Bow Rack in Oregon and he can spin you up some sweet ass meat missles. He goes by the name @OR Archer if you want to DM him. (I have zero affiliation with him/bow rack, just an extremely satisfied customer)

Also, Black Ovis being a sponsor I should mention they offer a similar service, but a very limited selection on the spine. I asked in December when they would have the axis with my spine in stock, they thought feb. it’s now June with no stock seen. I guess what I’m saying is if you want an axis to your specs, call Chris. If you are open to other arrows black ovis could be worth your time playing with their arrow builder..
