Easton 5.0 vs Victory HLR (Results)

Never had anything like this happen with the lower GPI Black Eagle X-Impacts, Gold Tip Airstrikes, Victory RIP TKO, or VAP. All the post hunt research on HLR failure issues I did yielded similar experiences with damage/breakage in the same spot.

Older thread but interesting.

This time of year I start wasting a lot of money tweaking stuff and experimenting. I’ve bought a pack of Easton 5.0 and I just started shooting some Airstrike. I may also order the GoldTip Quantum Black Label.

Doesn’t seem the GoldTip 5mm are very popular and was wondering about their durability.

Lots of negatives on Easton 5.0 durability but I had to try them.

Just an odd update. After a couple weeks of waiting for a response from Victory customer service, I was told they’re going to send me replacement Rip TKO arrows. I mean, I still have over $500 in a two dozen arrow build that I can’t use and now I have to cut and completely resight my bow during hunting season. What an absolute PIA for arrows designed for hunting, but obviously not tested well in practical application.

Old post, but folks should know the HLR drawback before they go deep into them. This was a front shoulder hit on a whitetail doe at 42 yards. No penetration with a 430 grain 29 carbon to carbon shaft at over 300fps.

Were you also using Hyde's for that shot? If so thats a bit disapointing to see that they aren't punching through a scapula. Also disappointing that an arrow is breaking with a direct hit like that
