East Coaster Driving Out West for Elk Hunt

I'm doing the same thing. Driving a suburban NY to CO.
I heard stay out of Albuquerque. Stay out of chicago, Detroit.
Not sure where else I should stay out of... please advise.

Better look at a map. If you end up in Albuquerque, you missed a turn, or two, or 10.

I’ll be driving from central Ohio to southern BC in late Sept. Something near 36hr drive, planning to take my time heading out, then haul ass home (hopefully with a heavier load). Used to take a chest freezer and generator, but doing several coolers this time instead.
