I'm needing to get a new pair of boots for early season hunts. I have been reviewing a few different ones, and am leaning toward the Lathrop and Sons Cevedale or maybe trying Hanwag Cheyenne or Mountain Light. For those that have had a chance to try the Cevedale, how do you think they would perform for high country archery hunts? I have used my Kenetrek mountain extremes in the past, but need something lighter and uninsulated and really like the looks of the Cevedale.

The Lowas would work great for that. I have all three of the boots you mentioned and my favorites are the Clevedales, followed by the Mountain Lites. I've never really loved the Cheyennes. I do think the Mountain Lite is a little more boot than the Clevedale but the Clevedale is light enough for early season and enough boot for the mountains.

The Cevedale is a fully capable mountain boot. I picked up a pair from REI to check out the fit before ordering the all brown version from L&S. They are called a mountaineering boot but are not a full shank and have more flex in the toe than most mountaineering boots. They are still plenty stiff in the sole to get you up and down the mountains. I'd say just a touch stiffer than the Kenetrek's. The weight of them is great and it's very easy to crank down the lacing as tight as you want.

Unfortunately for me, like other Lowa's I've tried, I can't overcome the heel slip. I fight heel slip in most boots though. The Cevedale heel pocket is better than Kenetrek's. I wish these boots would have fit my feet because they have a lot going for them. I think the Cevedale has a pretty universal fit and will work well for a lot of hunters.

Good to hear, thanks for the feedback. I look forward to trying a pair of these out.
