I am looking at picking up an Xmid 2p tent for my lightweight tent option. I mostly hunt September through mid to late October in WY and CO. Whats everyones opinions on the mesh verses solid version of these tents? I already have an Argali Absaroka tent and stove and a Kodiak canvas tent for late season cold weather hunts. I was thinking the mesh would be a nice option but I am concerned about it being too drafty and cold.

I've got the solid. For September+ it's my pick. Noticeably warmer than a mesh tent. In the summer it's not the right tool

I have the solid x mid 2 and the regular x mid one. I would generally have zero problem running the mesh one in September and will use it without the inner sometimes. The solid 2 I use for either backpacking with one of my kids or for later season colder hunts. (I hunt CO) The inner on the solid one is still somewhat mesh like - just less so and not all the way down. If you have a breeze blowing through the tent it would be warmer but I am generally warm enough in September either way.

If you plan to use it solo I prefer the 1. It’s small but has the two vestibule areas and is super livable for the weight. And even more importantly (for me) is that it has a smaller footprint and is therefore easier to find a spot for it.
