I’m trying to do more backpack hunting and just overnight camping in general. My wife bought me a Marmot SuperAlloy 2 for Christmas and I got a chance to use it for the first time the last weekend. It is light weight, but found a few things I didn’t really like about it. I had watched several YouTube videos about the tent, so I was aware of these issues, but didn’t know if they would bother me until I actually used it. I’m now looking around for a different tent and the Durston X-dome 2 is at the top of my list. I’m willing to carry a little more weight in order to have a higher quality tent. I can always cut down weight in other areas if 1.5 lbs really bothers me (it won’t.) so, is spending $500 for a new Durston going to improve my backpacking experiences?
