Durston Poles - feedback

I had a good experience with my icelines but I didn’t really put them through any hardships.. Hiked in 4 miles with them then they held up my super tarp for 6 days then hiked out. Would have been extremely disappointed if they failed from that. I think I put around 20 miles on them before we went out there.

People think you use the straps like this:

Used this way you never really need to grip it, you just use your fingers to guide it wherever you want. All the load goes into the base of your hand and your wrist. The more you get used to it the easier it becomes until you don’t even think about it.

If you need to glass just let them hang from your wrist. With the straps positioned as described there’s no fooling around with the straps the way they are positioned. Just drop your hands back into place over the top of the strap and get moving.

If it didn’t work Leki wouldn’t have come up with the race poles with integrated gloves. They work exactly the same way. Look at the grip on the race poles. There’s hardly anything there. It’s not meant to be gripped by wrapping your hands around them. The glove takes the load and you guide it with your fingers.
