Picked up this element on the cheap the other day, black riser / carbon fiber pattern limbs... Bow had been used, few scratches & chips but nothing major. I figured I didn't have a ton of $$$ in it so I'd give it a makeover... Ordered a Duracoat kit in Coyote Brown, prepped the riser and a few small parts, masked it all up & laid down some color yesterday. Here's a sneak peek through the spraying.... I'll take some more after it cures up and I get the new strings in... Also I gotta decide if I'm gonna keep the carbon limbs or pick up some new camo ones "thinking maybe Max-1 limbs"....

Limb pockets were a little scratched up so I wet sanded them and just shot them with some black truck bed liner "it's wet in the pic but dries flat black"... Also did the 2 cups where the limb bolt head sets in that go in the limb pocket holes & string stop end in Duracoat this morning

I used the Aerosol kit they have on this one... It's easy to use as long as you take your time and do light coats... First couple coats look terrible, by the 3rd coat it starts looking better... I think I ended up doing 5 coats on the riser to make sure I had all the little corners covered well.

nice thanks, always wondered how that kit worked.
one last thing, how much color is left after 4 or so coats on the riser?

Well I was pretty generous with the last coat on the riser, plus I sprayed some random parts... I probably still have 1/4 of a can left. They say you can do 4 guns with that can.

Nice, just did an Ally but used automotive paint, wish i knew we had a Duracoat dealer here, would have used it instead. Looking forward to the completed job.

I ordered it directly from their website...You can also find it on eBay sometimes. I opt'd to order direct from them because that way I could get the complete kit "can of paint & can of degreaser". Worst part is shipping though, since it's a chemical prices are always higher and it has to ship via UPS. Shipping was right around the $15 mark for the kit.

I hear you, but being in HI theres no way they'd ship here, says it on there site, im guessing the guy here buys large quantities or buys from another dealer and boats it over. I was reading where they say its a resin and was hoping it wouldnt go under hazmat but no go, sometimes i think thats just another money maker for someone, especially if you only want a small quantity. I do some custom painting and its always a problem getting stuff here.

Yeah that sucks, you'd think that in HI you guys wouldn't have those issues, not like it's Russia, lol... I feel for you, can't get paint, terrible scenery and cold weather, lol.

Ha, ha, you dont know how much times ive heard the line: "well thats the price you pay for living in paradise" when trying to get stuff shipped here. Yeah weather's not bad, beaches, hunting year round, :) still long for the backpacking and hunting you guys have up there though, grass is always greener on the other side, lol.

I found a set of Max-1 limbs, guy was supposed to ship them either yesterday or today.. My string builder is building new strings either today or tomorrow for it... Hopefully by the end of next week I have it all back together and can start tuning it.

I have an aerosol can at home just waiting for the right time to paint my EVO, so this is great timing.

Did you use 600 grit sandpaper on the riser or just simply the degreaser?

Scuffed it with a scotch brite pad then went back over it with their degreaser...
Bolted a couple parts on this morning

It looks good! Are you putting on the old grip or custom side plates? Some ASAT limbs would look nice with the duracoat finish. Looking forward to when you have it it all put back together.
