Does this break the wind?

For me, I don't need anything warmer while I'm moving and if I'm sitting still I'll throw on my puffy to stay warm. I added the FL Guide Jacket for turkey season this year and I love it for getting the brush and it's plenty light and durable. If you've already got a bunch of quarter zip fleeces, you could pick up the guide jacket and you'd gain warmth and durability as well as having a lot of flexibility in terms of temperature ranges.

What’s the purpose of the timberline compared to the jet stream? Why would you pick one over the other??

I like both my jet stream and mountain jacket, although the Mountain doesn’t have any insulation and the jetstream is not too much different than your KUIU guide DCS.

Sitka also makes a traverse zip t. It is like a core heavy weight fleece but with a more durable exterior face. I bought one at the end of last year but haven’t used it yet. My plan is to use it as an outer layer when a heavier, water resistant jacket isn’t needed. I expect I can also use it in place of my Halstead as a midlayer later in the season. BTW - Not the traverse hoody - that is a much heavier piece with Berber fleece interior insulation.

x3 on the FL Guide Jacket. I use it as a stand alone early season jacket or an outer layer to protect my puffy in the cold. Use it at home and work too. Very happy with the fit and durability.

The jet stream has a fleece lined on the inside for warmth and insulation as well as a heavier base outside for durability and warmth. The timberline is just a light mid layer jacket to cut wind and with no insulation as well as taped seams and extremely durable and versatile. I know a lot of guys want one jacket for everything but I use my jet stream for the colder days and my timberline for the early season and mid season then I run my jet stream into the later season.
