Has anybody ran this ? I typically run a merino base layer shirt, some sort of active mid layer, and an uninsulated wind breaker. I’ve yet to find a mid layer that doesn’t over heat me. I’m debating going trying out this vest and curious if anybody else has ran it?

Have you tried a thinner base layer? And what mid layer are you running? I tend to run a light to medium base layer depending on weather, duckworth powder hoody has and will most likely be my favorite mid layer. I do have the wool cloud jacket but not the vest, I could see the vest being more useful than the jacket in my opinion. If you’re overheating, I would consider maybe trying a lighter base layer and possibly a different mid layer that breathes better but still has warmth (powder hoody is my vote), but vests are legit and handy to have either way.

I’ve always ran the SG chinook short sleeve.

As for mid layers I’ve tried the SG helio grid fleece, OV grid fleece, Sitka ambient 150,ambient 75, marmot primaloft. All of this was worn with the Sitka mountain evo as a shell and k would overheat while hiking them get chilled out while glassing due to the exposed back. I’m now trying a simple windbreaker from go ruck and I was wanting to try a vest. I was thinking either the Duckworth one, Sitka ambient one, or the polartec fleece one from goruck. Temp use ranges are 30-50 typically with some late November hunts dipping into the teens.
