Hey all, I'm looking at getting a duckworth powder hoody. Im just curious what everyone thoughts are on it and if its worth the $$. Im not super skilled in the layering aspect as most of you are. I dont really have a dialed system. I was also wondering how you would layer with this piece?

I have one. It's pretty sweet. I run hot and it's warm as heck for me. I wore it as an outer layer all day at 10-20 degrees whitetail hunting, putzing along, sitting here and there. Never took my puffy out of the pack.
Worth it? Hell no. I could accomplish same thing at fraction of price...but I might get another one... 🤪

I've had 2 here.

The large was too small. The XL is too big.

I brought it on a trip recently and didn't wear it. I ended up wearing a sweater the whole time instead.

It's been sitting on the floor for a couple months and I just used it as packing filler to ship a box ahead of a trip and will probably leave it on that end with a guy that's taller than me.

It's a neat fabric that I've never encountered before, but other than that its just an anorak hoody with a kangaroo pouch with some altruistic marketing.

I got the coffee color first and its got enough brown in it that I think you could be mistaken for a bear. I got the grey the second time and its pleasant looking.

I've pondered removing the kangaroo pouch from mine and hemming it, but who has time for that?

They’re definitely warm. Love mine and wear it all the time. Doesn’t fit the greatest but it’s just so comfy I don’t really care

I’ve got one. I support their mission and I like it but….To me it’s more oriented toward casual wear than technical hunting. It’s a bit slouchy , the hood doesn’t fit particularly well, the neck is kinda open, the fabric has too much acrylic, not enough wool and it pills as a result. It’s great for easy camping or chores on the weekend. Or just hanging out in.

I have one a like it a lot but waited for a sale and snagged one for something like 20% off I think. It is very comfy like others have said and pretty dang warm compared to regular hoodies. Fit is a little baggier and the hood is a little lacking. I’ve only used it as an outer layer but if it was nasty cold out it would make a decent mid layer, just bulky and a little heavy.

I have two. Left one in the bear woods last year thinking I would grab on way out and forgot. Bought a new one when they came on sale again. Watch for sales in the website they happen often.

I live in mine from October to May. Super comfortable and warm. Little warmer than a normal cotton hoodie. I wear it as a main layer and if I need something more a lightweight vest helps a ton. It comes in the woods with me on every trip even though it’s bulky to pack down. Makes an excellent pillow.

They hit soooo hard. Maybe one of my All Time favorite pieces. I have 3.

They are SPENDY. They are "light". They are not terribly durable.

The sizing game has pissed me off across the entire industry. I have two in XL. Both fit different. I have an L in oatmeal. It's REALLY tight (forearms)

I would say it's a TON warmer than a cotton hoody. Like a LOT.

I say go for it.

Run a tape around your chest and I can try and help you, or:

I tape 49-51 inches around. I say XL

That's good to know, I have issues with some major brands how they fit. Im 5'10 210lbs with stocky build. I wouldn't say I have huge forearms but I've that issue with kuiu for me.

It’s WAY warmer than a normal cotton hoody. Like 3x

To those that layer over the top. Do I have to size up since the hoodie is a loose piece? I just ask because I have a church rain jacket thats snuge on my forearms.

I'm like a avg sasquatch, 6'5" 230lb-ish. I wear an XL and feels like fit is right on. Caught myself on my trail cam wearing it - pretty sure I had a wicking T, a long sleeve mid-wt merino then the hoodie. My apparently weakazz forearms have never felt hindered and now I feel self conscious about it. YMMV.

Well I don't have the typical mountain hunter build. I have the flatlander build 😂 so far kuiu has the select few items I've tried has been worse for me. The chugach and a kuiu strong fleece have been snug.
