Duckworth powder hoody

Hey all, I'm looking at getting a duckworth powder hoody. Im just curious what everyone thoughts are on it and if its worth the $$. Im not super skilled in the layering aspect as most of you are. I dont really have a dialed system. I was also wondering how you would layer with this piece?

I have one. It's pretty sweet. I run hot and it's warm as heck for me. I wore it as an outer layer all day at 10-20 degrees whitetail hunting, putzing along, sitting here and there. Never took my puffy out of the pack.
Worth it? Hell no. I could accomplish same thing at fraction of price...but I might get another one...

I've had 2 here.

The large was too small. The XL is too big.

I brought it on a trip recently and didn't wear it. I ended up wearing a sweater the whole time instead.

It's been sitting on the floor for a couple months and I just used it as packing filler to ship a box ahead of a trip and will probably leave it on that end with a guy that's taller than me.

It's a neat fabric that I've never encountered before, but other than that its just an anorak hoody with a kangaroo pouch with some altruistic marketing.

I got the coffee color first and its got enough brown in it that I think you could be mistaken for a bear. I got the grey the second time and its pleasant looking.

I've pondered removing the kangaroo pouch from mine and hemming it, but who has time for that?

They’re definitely warm. Love mine and wear it all the time. Doesn’t fit the greatest but it’s just so comfy I don’t really care

Well thats all good to know. They are pretty spendy. They look comfy but I was having a hard time to justify the price

Nah I've been wearing sweaters and hats. Balaclava a few times to make my own hoody.

I wish it had a zipper, I hate having to pull a hoody over my head.

I have one and dig it. Super comfortable and warm. You can wear it as an outer or a mid layer just fine. I prefer the ambient when weight is a concern.

I love mine. They go on sale a couple times a year. I’d wait until one comes around.

I’ve got one. I support their mission and I like it but….To me it’s more oriented toward casual wear than technical hunting. It’s a bit slouchy , the hood doesn’t fit particularly well, the neck is kinda open, the fabric has too much acrylic, not enough wool and it pills as a result. It’s great for easy camping or chores on the weekend. Or just hanging out in.

I have one a like it a lot but waited for a sale and snagged one for something like 20% off I think. It is very comfy like others have said and pretty dang warm compared to regular hoodies. Fit is a little baggier and the hood is a little lacking. I’ve only used it as an outer layer but if it was nasty cold out it would make a decent mid layer, just bulky and a little heavy.
