Dry January

Kind of. I let the whiskey run out and have elected to not restock it. Have beer on hand but not feeling the need to drink it. For kicks, I tried a sip of straight tequila the other night and was NOT a fan.

Sometimes I just like to see how long I can go without, mostly just to prove to myself that I DON’T need it.
I pretty much like all alcohol. Have quit dozens of times. Wish I hated at least some of it

You need to come out from underneath that rock.
There's a big world out here ;)
Could be but this is the only form of Social Media I have and I am 43 yrs old. Lead a team of 12 people younger and older than me and honestly this is the first I am hearing about it. I think I kind of like it under this rock lol

Our deer archery season ends Jan 15 (Monday).
I start on 16th go thru Feb.
I'm probably doing it backwards. I should probably quit during deer season so those 4am alarms aren't so annoying.

Those Huberman podcasts on alcohol and the one on sugar got me started. I cleaned on the pantry of anything that had “added sugar” on the label and gave up alcohol. The no sugar has been way harder for me that no booze. Which was a surprise to me as I drank way to much, even by my low standards.
Same no added sugar for over a year. I will eat fruit but nothing processed. I’m in better shape at 36 then I was at 18 in the Marine Corps. Lifts are better, sleep is better, mental health is better, all around a better father, husband and person in general.

I quit on the 2nd.
Didn’t really sleep for 3 days, night sweats, super irritatable. I’ve been sleeping better now, still haven’t slept a solid 8 though. I feel like I have less energy, but I’m sure it will pass.
I was sitting by the wood stove the other night with some tea. I think I tired myself out trying to turn it into scotch.

It gets better man. Way to go.

I thought this was about snow as well! lol I drank some in my younger years and learned then that I couldn’t stick with it. I liked it way too much and could never just stop at a few drinks. I always needed one more then one more then another….i knew then if I didn’t stop I would be an alcoholic. It’s been well over 20 years now without it. I do need to shake those dang white can monster energy drinks though so can that count? 🤪

Not happening this month. -10-20 in CO…… here it’s pure “sol”

I'm the opposite of dry January. Starting carnivore diet Feb 1st, so this month is my freshman year of college with a little steelhead fishing.

I'm doing dry-ish after hitting it fairly hard over the winter holidays. No drinks on weeknights and just one or two during weekend. I have noticed two things:
1. I'm generally sleeping better.
2. I really enjoy straight bourbon and like to have a drink in some evenings while reading a book or watching TV. This has given me a much better understanding of how much I'm actually drinking doing this. If you are truly counting one drink of bourbon (or any hard alcohol) is just 1.5 oz. Have you seen what 1.5 oz looks like in a rocks glass without ice?!? It looks like you already need a refill. I usually need at least two fingers worth. Will need to keep those limited in the future.

Good luck and much support to those giving it a shot. I know it can be very hard and can be difficult to talk about.
Two fingers? Make sure to put your mittens on before pouring! You should be fine!

Doing dry January and February... Lets be honest, every single one of us would do better if we didn't drink. I really enjoy a good whiskey occasionally or a cocktail with friends and on a hot summer day, an ice cold beer is amazing!! and i would miss it if quitting completely... but even if you don't have a problem with alcohol... abstaining is good for you

Second dry January for me, this year is much easier. Last year I thought I came up with the whole idea but apparently it's a thing
