Wife has been hinting at moving out west from Western oklahoma. She works remote as a book keeper, I'm in oil and gas (derrickhand/driller on compound triples). How feasible is it to stay in my current line of work in the Lander, Wy area? I know there's a decent amount of drilling in SW wyoming, just not sure how steady most outfits are staying.

The Greeley area is also on her radar, but I would rather not be anywhere along the front range.

Like anything in the patch, up and down. But you already know that.

Are you currently home on a daily basis or do you stay on location during your hitch?

Colorado is communist. They are trying to destroy everything related to mining, drilling, logging, etc... Not to mention gun rights, oh yeah, and wolves and CWD.

Tax burden on oil companies is lower in Colorado than Wyoming so despite the political resistance, it’s seen as a cheaper place operate.

We are drilling 20 minutes from my house, so I'm home daily for the past 5 years drilling for the same operator. Every once in a while they will take a little break and we will go do a well or two for another company, maybe once a year. All in, I'm home daily. Maybe 2-3 hitches a year staying in the bunk house.
