Draw weight for elk?

I would say anything 48lbs and up with a 10grn per pound arrow will work,my set up is 57lbs with 550grn arrow, zwickey head, works fine.

For me this year it will be a Bob Lee signature bow that I have had for a long time. 62# at 27". I shoot 60/65# cedar r shafts tipped with a Zerwiki Eskimo. Been shooting through elk with this setup for a long time. Sometimes I use an Osage flat bow that I built myself. I shoot maple shafts same broadhead 58# at 27".

Takedown Recurve I bought from Wesern Archery in Salida, not expensive but well made, 58lbs pull, carbon arrows with Muzzy broadheads, arrows are about 365gr. Flat shooting and pretty good arrow speed. I have personal policy of "inside 20yds" nless it is a gimme broadside and even then, it is going to have to be a sure kill shot in my mind or I wont take it.
Learned that hunting for big whitetails and having a buck of a lifetime get away from me with a bad shot I knew I should not have tried. Fortunately I saw him the next year with a minor wound that had healed, but that experience made him totally nocturnal.

I've recently switched bows from a Hout GMII to Black Widow. My draw weight is still 60lbs, but I've switched to wood arrows. They seem to fly better and hit harder, but that may just be me. At any rate I'm anxious to get a shot on an elk this year with this set up.

I have (3) Silvertips ranging from 71# to 76# at my draw length. Finished arrows around 735gr with either Woodsman 150gr or Stingers 4blade 150gr.

This is my set up for Moose and white tail this fall.
Javaman Elkheart. 54" 52# @ my draw length.
Easton Axis arrows 500 spine with 300 gr Kodiak BH footed 1.5"
Total arrow weight is 630 grains with 27% FOC
