Draw length vs. peak weight?

Z7 extreme at 28 inch draw is maxed out at 64.6 pounds. ATA is right on as is brace. I have checked my scale also. Am I missing something or do these short ATA bows show adjustments more? Bear with me. I 'm really just starting to geek out on this stuff after 5 years of shooting.

I think your question is not clear but I will take a stab on what I am reading. The draw length and axle to axle has nothing to do with peak weight. It had to do with your limbs all other variables being equal. Some limbs are 61lbs, some are 64lbs. It is very common for a bow to max out heavier than the listed peak weight. Sorry if I missed your question.

Totally understand the confusion in the question. Specs are 70 at 29. Hopefully that clears things up.

No, poundage should not vary as draw length changes. Are the limb bolts bottomed out? I'm unfamiliar with Matthews, but I know on hybrid cam bows that draw weight can be manipulated by your cable lengths as well.

How old are your strings? I know mine starts to loose poundage as my strings age.
I replaced them end of last season. Last season being Texas whitetail. Made by Korbins. Is it possible that ATA is just a suggestion and part of tuning is tweeking those numbers? When the strings were replaced I documented all measurements on the bow and according to my tape nothing has changed. Lesson learned is I did not document peak weight when the strings were installed. Baby steps..........

It is entirely possible that I have been shooting under spec since the strings were replaced. The only reason I noticed was because I finally made a draw board with a scale. Like I said, baby steps. Now I am just short a bow press away from freedom and a few youtube videos and more questions and more mistakes. I got the tuning bug. That is what matters, I hope.

I do all my own tuning and the most important factors for me are having the correct draw length, proper cam timing and synchronization, and then proper draw weight. The ATA is whatever it is when I am done tuning. So if the mods on your bow are set for 29 inches and the limbs are supposed to max at 70 lbs and you are currently at 65 lbs, I would add three full twists to each cable. Then check cam timing and sync on your draw board. Your new draw length should be closer to 29 rather than 28 and your new draw weight should be closer to 70lbs. Once you start getting close, half twists to the cables will do you well. I'm not familiar with Matthews Solocams, so I can't really help you with proper cam timing and sync., but I am sure there are some youtube videos out there that can point you in the right direction.

I have issues with Korbins. I bet it is strings/cables are off or not installed correctly

Found my issue. Like with most things you should always check the obvious things first. My cam timing is close to a quarter inch off. Hopefully once the timing is back on I should be good.
