If they are not sized right they will compress and be less effective. The tip about putting the quilt over the bag leaves less chance of compression.I'm glad you shared this. I always assumed the outer bag would compress the inner bag to the point of uselessness. Now I know.
Industrial velcro will keep it in place.I had multiple times needed to layer my woobie on top of my down sleeping bag. Makes a huge difference as long a you can keep it in place. Instead of buying a dedicated negative temp bag I choose to do the above for the few times I might need it. If it’s that cold I ought to have the woobie with anyways.
As for the OP, those wiggys bags lack a usable draft collar, are cut pretty big, and have a crap hood design. I’d expect putting something inside one would help with some of that.
ah ah i think we got the same dog lol ... but it is when we are reaching -10c ...Put your fancy bag inside a giant/double cheapo from wally world. Ive survived -27° in that combo.
I tried to get my dog in there with me, but she wouldn't have it. Just slept on the foot of my cot....till it got below -10°.....then she would jump in without an invite.
when it is for dog i can never say i got me but more i got her what might help her to let me in when it is cold lol ...People need to do what needs done. I would rather have a bag that meets the conditions on its own.
Since I got my terrier (#25) I got me some roomier bags. Regular/wide 20 degree slicks with center zip....my 0 degree is long/wide. Dogoo helps with warmth.
Looking for a long/wide -20....
