If that’s how you want to operate, maybe africa is a good place for you to be.I understand the sentiment of what you mean with this and that you're not defending poaching. No issue there. However (you knew that was coming...) stealing is still stealing, regardless of the justification. Is this violation certainly one of the worst kinds of stealing? Absolutely.
For additional perspective, I'll mention some of my hunting in Africa where you're accompanied by a government Game Scout, usually wielding an AK-47, who accompanies you the entire time. He's not there for you; he's there if you encounter poachers. He's authorized to shoot their asses "graveyard dead" if he needs to. It doesn't matter if you're hungry or trying to illegally sell ivory - it's all the same to them.
I think we're saying the same thing. I'm absolutely no fan of anything 'trophy' related. I've never - ever - measured an animal I've shot. I couldn't tell you a single score/measurement/ranking of anything. If it looks like a representative example of an animal for which I'm hunting, that's the one for me. The notion of "my animal is bigger than your animal" is what caused this situation in the first place. If that’s how you want to operate, maybe africa is a good place for you to be.
We have compassion in this country and if someone wants to shoot s couple deer for food, then have at it, imo.
Trophy hunting is a bunch of crap here and in africa and anywhere else. Ima hero cause i shot a “big” xyz and get my name in a book few folks ever hear of. Really?
Same problem the poacher ran into. Hmm.
I hunt GA a bit. They allow 10 does per license. Mist guys only shoot 1 or 2. No harm is done by someone “protecting their garden”.I think we're saying the same thing. As for compassion to feed one's family, as others have mentioned, there are legal ways to do so when you can't afford to head to the grocery store. We've all been there. Unregulated shooting of animals leads to bad things for the whole population. It's been proven time and time again across the world.
