A quick reminder to update your InReach unit. Its been awhile since Ive done an update/sync on my computer with the unit. I found out my sync firmware was outdated and had do uninstall the old download, do a restart, and reinstall the new one. It took a bit of time to complete everything but...

Good reminder. I went to turn mine on the other day after not using it for a little over a year. The unit would not even power on. Ended up having to call Garmin customer service and they had to send me a link to force updates onto my device before it would turn on. It was a real pain, I'm glad I wasn't trying to leave for a hunt.

very good reminder. my old inreach explorer synced/updated last week, but then proved incapable of connecting to the satellite network or sending a test message. trashing it for a Zoleo, as garmin told me there's no repair option.

I may be a bit paranoid but I turn mine on once a month to make sure it still connects and also check for updates, don't want that piece of equipment failing when it's needed!
