I'm looking at getting into bow shooting and maybe archery hunting. I have hunted for years both shotgun and rifle using my right eye to shoot right handed even though I am left eye dominant. I have taken lot's of game and am a good shot. My question to you is: should I start bow shooting left handed or close my dominant eye and shoot right? Thanks for any input!

I'm the same way, left eye dominant, right-handed and close my left eye when shooting. I started bow hunting about 10 years ago and do it the same way without any problems. I say if it comes natural for you, which I'm sure it does, just keep on keeping on, it shouldn't be an issue.

Left eye dominant righty too. Started archery right handed did it for 10 years then switched 2 or 3 years ago to lefty. Best thing I did for my archery target acquisition. It's not as hard to go lefty as you think it would be. IMO start off on the "right" foot and don't even mess with the right handed bows. I shoot pistol right handed but use my left eye. Rifle and shotgun right handed and right eyed, so I guess you could say I am all jacked up, but it's so much more natural to let that dominant eye do the dirty work.

I shoot right handed and I'm left eye dominant. I shoot with both eyes open, and have no issues at all.

I was in the same position when I picked up the bow, shot everything right handed and just closed my left eye. I was nervous about shooting left handed, so I went to a local range that had free lessons on the weekends if you rented a bow and got in a couple practice sessions left handed before I made my decision. I found that learning to shoot the bow left handed was no problem at all and don't feel like it took any extra effort to overcome my right handedness.

I also find that it is always easier to focus and have a clearer sight picture when using the dominant eye. Even with my dominant eye closed, the right eye just doesn't do the job as well. Definitely feel like I made the right choice in picking up the bow left handed.

Right handed, left eye dominant, no issues with shooting a bow, shotgun, rifle, handgun, you name it. I dont even think of it anymore honestly. I have done it so often it is just natural. I do use a peep and a kisser button and everything works well. Dont overthink it, many of us are in the same boat without any problems.

Right handed left eye dominant. For shooting I have retrained my eye dominance. It isn't hard to do and doesn't take that long. IMO it is no different that training yourself to shoot left handed. If closing your eye doesn't bother you can just do that as well.

Try taking a class at a local archery shop as a lefty and see how you like it. My wife is right-handed and strong left eye dominance. She shoots a rifle right-handed because she's not comfortable holding it left. But, when she wanted to get into archery I decided to try her as a lefty. She had never shot a bow before, so I assumed had no muscle memory. Signed her up for a class as a lefty (told the instructor the situation) and she's never looked back. So glad we took that route. She loves it. It's more comfortable for her.
