Husky/mal mix that will, against all odds, actually retrieve a bird. Working on wet retrieves but anything on land (as long as she sees it fall) is solid. Not too bad for a shelter mutt.
Good on ya! Reminds me of a dog I knew that was found injured and abandoned in a ditch. Adopted by a SAR colleague, rehabbed and successfully trained to go on searches.

I adopted a Malinois that had four ”homes” before me. Could do the SAR work but could not get past the abuse he had suffered along the way. Spent his remaining eight years as my companion:

We just lost this one to cancer a few weeks ago at 10 years old. She was a rescue, in theory a German Shepherd. In reality, we are pretty sure in hindsight she is at least part Malinois. She had enough energy and drive for 10 dogs, and was a straight up killer of anything that moved - wasps, birds, squirrels. Never in my life seen a dog that was both fast enough and savvy enough kill squirrels. She also rarely barked, but would make the most coyote sounding noises you ever heard.

Good on yal for owing mals. Haha, I took on a husky/mal cross for training once and she was seriously a good dog, but as far as pure mals as pets, it takes a lot of dedication and patience. I work 2 mallys, and my house dog is à la hahahaha

IMG_0952.jpeg6 m/o English dog named Ruckus! seeming to turn out to be a badass water dog. We will see! Lots and lots of time the last few months and we’ve spend the last 6 nights in the water.

7yr old border collie radar, loves to fight coyotes and big coons, 40lb dog that will rip on anything he can get too, ran him with bear hounds as well. Smartest dog I’ve ever had and is the best house dog as well, also loves finding antlers.
