Does anywhere compare to Newfoundland for opportunity and cost?

I've had two great experiences in Newfoundland in 5 years. For the price, hard to imagine a better hunting experience.

It's possible to get a big moose, but also just as likely to get a small 4 or 6pt. Research the area you're going to hunt and go in with proper expectations.

I wil say, for the area I hunted, it definitely seemed like there were bigger moose around (and more of them) post covid then pre-covid. With a full year of bo hunting in many remote parts, I think the herd matured quite a bit. This is my opinion only, so take it as such.

Come to Alberta.
Fairly reasonably priced, better trophy quality than NFLD in my opinion.

If you are thinking of driving to NF it will take you 3 days to get up there with the ferry. We made it back to northwestern New Jersey in two days diving 18 hours straight and arriving home at 3:00AM, driving will add at least 6 days to a 6 day day hunt.

I just got back from NF.

I did a walk in hunt. Outfitter warned us bull activity was low due to unseasonably hot weather.

I shot my bull 40 minutes into the hunt on the first day. I have no regrets and would 100% do it again. As someone from pennsylvania it was an absolute dream come true. I plan on doing a longer post when I get the time.

The next time I go to NF I am going to do a fly in hunt to try and get a bigger bull.

I’m from Newfoundland but now live in Alberta and I would highly recommend Alberta. I think the trophy quality is better plus you can get tags for deer, elk, and bear so if you tag out for moose in day one you have something else to hunt. As for the booze and Mary Jane unfortunately it can be a theme back home. You do have some guides who will put in the work to get you the best bull they can but you also have others who would rather drink and smoke than putting in the work. Plus the moose hunting back there isn’t what it use to be at all.
