Does anybody shoot cheap powder for practice, but use blackhorn for hunting?

With the high price tag for Blackhorn 209, does anybody dial in their hunting setup and then switch over to triple seven or pyrodex just for target shooting and practice during the summer?

Bit the bullet or should I say powder for some 209… might get on paper with triple 7 and cheaper power belts of similar grain weight but then sight in with my 209 and hunting bullet

I will be. At $80 for a 1/2lbs of BH I can’t justify shooting and practicing with the exact load I plan on hunting with.

Oh for sure. I use BH to hunt and Benchmark for range days.
I can’t tell a difference in performance and I can have more shots with Benchmark between cleaning vs the 10-15 shots with BH.

Check out arrowheadrifles Youtube videos for some tips and info.

Ok that makes sense to me too, but being new to it all, I wanted to make sure there wasn’t some hidden detail I would be missing if I did that.

I picked up some shooters world multi black to try out for range time. We’ll see how it shoots. I did have a question on the load data end of things.
When it shows the 348 gr. projectile and then the 80 and 100 grain next to it, is that just denoting the low and max charge? I assume so, but it doesn’t actually say.

It looks like they’re just giving you 80 and 100 grV data. No idea what the max charge would be. Probably 150 grV?

I guess I’ll start low and work up then. They do have a 120 gr charge for one bullet.

Not many guys shooting it, but I’ve read that it’s slower than 777, so guessing the max load is in the neighborhood of 150 grV for most production rifles.
