Do you use a slider sight?

I'm thinking about switching to a slider to clean up the slight picture and hopefully improve precision on longer shots. I hunt everything from whitetails to mule deer and elk. Do you use a slider and if you do, what make/model are you using? I'm open to hear any insights or preferences you learned when you went through this process. Thanks

Spot Hogg, I used their fixed 5 pin sights before so when I made the move to an adjustable sight I stuck with the same company. I have had the boss hogg in the past, now use a Fast Eddy with 5 pin wrapped housing and also have a Hogg father single pin on my 3D/backup rig. Can't go wrong with any of there sights really. If I was buying one today I would get the Fast Eddy XL base and a small guard 3 pin wrapped housing with .10 pins. But that's just me.

I have used HHA single sight for years for everything from deer to elk..
Currently I use HHA kingpin te..
Works good for me. I practice know my hold over and below for those quick moments u don't get a chance to adjust.

Mbg pure gold 75 good adjustment built solid and unlike the Axcel accustat the photo chromatic cover over the pin fiber will brighten and dim your pins for you instead of moving something yourself on the scope

I have the spot hogg hogg it and the father single pin. I prefer the single pin my only complaint is the father sight is heavy. I just got the trophy taker option and I really like the sight. It's much lighter and can have the option of a slider or multi pin. Only problem is it costs an arm and a leg.

I have really liked the clearer sight picture since switching to a slider. I use a 3 pin Montana Black Gold Ascent. Top pin is 20/30 then 40, and 50. If the shot is over 50 I better have time to adjust the sight or I probably shouldn't take that shot. One thing to pay attention to is not all of the sliders mentioned above allow for 3rd axis adjustment. You might get away without adjusting 3rd axis up close but you start shooting way out there and you absolutely must set your 3rd axis adjustment. Not going to point out specific companies but I can tell you MBG does offer 3rd axis you just have to make sure you don't get the standard base. Its easy to order either the Vengeance base or the 4" or 6" dovetail all three of those options do offer 3rd axis. I believe the Pure sights all have 3rd axis.

I went from a multi-pin to a single pin slider and back to the multi-pin. There were a couple of field situations on rutting deer where the range adjustment resulted in lost opportunities. A 3 pin slider may be a better option, but the "clutter" has never caused me an issue.

I switched a month ago or so to a Montana Black Gold ascent verdict single pin and really like it so far. There's an adjustment period though, if I'm shooting with my buddies I have to constantly double check to make sure I've moved my site to the right yardage before shooting. I guess I just get to talking and don't move my site. I lost one arrow when we started at 73 yards and I had it set at my home position of 35, arrow slide under a brush pile. I'm planning on setting up a new bow this winter an plan on going with a 3 pin slider with 3rd axis adjustment. I feel like my groups have tightened up some and it definitely gives you a cleaner sight picture.

I use a HHA Optimizer Ultra DS5519. I tried the Kingpin and hated it. I love how bright the pin is.

Black Gold pure 75 single pin here. I shoot the trick pin from 20-40 yards and dial beyond that. The areas I hunt have many longer shot opportunities. If I hunted thicker bushier areas I would probably run a 3 pin slider like the BG Ascent.

Thanks guys. Great feedback! I'm currently using the Spot Hogg 7 pin, hence the clutter. Not a huge issue, I do well with it, but if the sun is in my face and the target is in the shade I have a hard time seeing the target because all the pins light up too much. Plus I just think I can get more precise with the longer shots. Thus far I haven't had to shoot at game past 55yrds (yet), most are 20-25yrds, but I like practicing at longer yardage and would take longer shots under perfect conditions.

3rd axis is a requirement for the next site. When hunting mule deer and sometimes elk there are too many steep angle shots.

I'm debating if I should go the three pin slider (seems most popular) or single pin (set at 30 yrds, which should be easy shooting with no adjustment from 20-40yrs hold under/overs). Food for thought.

Spot Hogg makes a fast eddy XL with a two dot single pin. A friend shoots one and loves it. One dot is 40 the other is 20. I called Montana Black Gold and asked if this was in the works from them and sadly no plans. They recommended I have a machinist drill a 10,000 of an inch hole if I wanted to add a second sight pin.

CBE tek hybrids are super tough and my goto sight these days. Most of the sliders have copied some of their innovation lately

FWIW I mainly hunt whitetail from a tree stand but switched from a CBE Tek Hybrid single pin back to a 5 pin fixed after having lost a couple shot opportunities while I was adjusting the sight. From a pure shooting experience standpoint the single pin rules. But for me anyways, when looking looking for the best site as the most efficient hunting tool, I much prefer the 5 pin. There's nothing to move, no wondering what yardage to set it based on where you think your shot will be, when the deer walks out you just pick the right pin and let it fly. I'm debating going to a 3 or 5 pin slider on my next bow to gain yardage out past 60 for target shooting but will never put a single pin slider on a hunting bow again. I know many love the single pin. That's my 2 cents!
