It isn't just NIL. Unlimited transfers, eligibility non-requirements, and coference realingment are all gas on the dumpster fire.

Ain't that a fact. The lesser division one schools can't generate enough NIL money from donors to attract players entering the transfer portal. The schools can't directly pay the players, so the money goes into a fund where it then gets dolled out. Some state laws are real murky on how involved schools themselves can get with handing out the money or advertising deals. NIL is the ruin of NCAA sports, the bigger schools will get the best players.
It’s rapidly becoming just a form of semi- pro with the colleges lending their “ brand “ names. When was the last time one can recall a player at a major power 5 university sitting out because of academic insufficiency? The term “ student athlete “ is so ridiculous that it should be done away with IMO. I’m personally not nearly so invested as I once was.

a little disappointed. I thought this thread was to complain about the chiefs and how they keep having "titles" handed to them by the league/refs in order to increase marketing for brands who partner with league. glad karma caught up with them.

My teams quarterback sucks so, no, I don't like where the NFL is headed. At least in the short term.

I quit watching the WWNFL a couple season ago...I thought sports betting would bring more honest officiating...boy was I wrong.
The best thing about the NFL and college football is it keeps folks out the woods on Sat and Sundays.
I want to see 8am games on Sat and Sunday...folks are still sneaking out in the mornings.

The NFL is technically "Sports Entertainment" Meaning this classification allows the NFL to legally influence game outcomes, similar to the WWE, and can legally fix the outcome of games.

I came to mention this.

I think somewhere along the way the games stopped being games and more like wrestling matches.

It’s like a reality tv show - the game begins with a winner and loser already predetermined but it’s up to the coaches and refs to decide how they arrive there. That keeps it looking real enough.

I know, tinfoil hat and all…
