Do you feel a cheek riser necessary for your Tikka?

Debating between a t3x lite or maybe a super varmint. I’m just stuck on the idea of a cheek riser being a necessity or not. Most likely going with a Nightforce NX6 with 42mm on UM low rings dovetailed in.

Would be for hunts trekking in AND for the rwnge too. The super thin stainless barrel makes me nervous it can’t really handle an all day range sesh.

For those, did you really need a cheek riser for your setup?

Not a necessity but it sure helps. Also depends on what caliber and the main use of the rifle is. Using a heavier barrel would be a lot better on the range but isn’t very practical if you have to carry it all day.

I prefer the tikka without it, with normally mounted scopes, steering the gun with your head isn’t conducive to getting the best accuracy, a light contact to align the sight picture is all that is wanted or required.

Depends on one's philosophy. I used to have cheek risers or stock pads on everything and used a firm cheek weld. Have since gone to a very light cheek or jaw weld and dont find myself using risers even on stocks/chassis that come with them. Definitely not "neccessary" on a factory tikka stock.

Not on any of my tikkas. Looks like its probably just preference and body composition dependant... maybe find someone with 1 and try it out

Depends on your anatomical structure. Some people don’t need them because they can get a consistent cheek weld with low rings. I cannot, so I need a cheek piece to ensure my alignment is the same every time.

Definitely yes for me. The new company who posted here with the 3-d printed cheek risers is the same as the oem one—thats better than any other options imo because it has a negative comb profile. It doesnt change the recoil of that stock, but it reduces the amount it punches you in the face.

shooting one lately with T084 rings and shoot it well but the eyes closed thing I have to lift but as others said light pressure and doesn't seem to bug me too much at range and one coyote kill so far didn't notice issue,

I have another with a 1" tube mounted lower that is perfect for that shotgun thing and shoot it very well also,

so I've got a victor on way to try on the T084 one and see if I will roll with it or not, fine tuning perhaps as getting by with nothing and not finding it something I think about while actually shooting, more when I'm playing with guns at home lol...I have always liked things more to that eyes closed no lift but never really compared differences in how I shoot at distance so curious about this topic also as more tikka's planned and trying to narrow down the ultimate T084 match up, and if anything gets ordered with those rings as default for tikka lites

in previous days the talley x-low was the easy button and is a height I loved and have mirrored it on the other one with the 1" tube but tougher option but lots of fafo to get there with shaving a rail and weaver lows,

wish there was direct rail rings that offered that height which just clears 40mm objectives nicely, like talley x-low does, make 1" and 30mm, 3-9x40's and lpvo's covered but tough simple light sports match style...

I’m a fan of the Mathew’s Fabrication cheek riser. Easy to install, stays in place. If you find you don’t like/need it, just run it slammed. I adjusted mine for a slight negative comb.

The pistol grip is a nice upgrade for tikka stocks too. These mods are cheap made my Tikka easier to shoot.

IMG_5262.jpegI have gone the other way using higher mounts and find I shoot better and find it less fatiguing during longer sessions.

Not necessary but I prefer them. I gave my neighbor kid the riser off of a CTR I had and he 3D printed a copy for me to put in my 6.5PRC.
