Do you carry your sidearm loaded?

I carry a 1911 and always one in the chamber cocked and locked.

Always have one in the chamber. Years ago a firearms instructor told the class that in a sudden defense situation you more than likely won't have time to even take the safety off let alone jack one in the chamber.

I cannot reliably cycle the slide to chamber a round with one hand but I can shoot with one hand so always one in the chamber. You don't want to find yourself having to fend off an attacker with the hand you need to cycle the slide. It could cost your life.

I believe you need to have one chambered and ready to go in almost all situations. In a high stress event one may forget how to chamber a round or may be physically unable to.

In the woods chest holster with one in the chamber. In town pocket pistol or single stack Glock in a carry coat with one in the chamber. In truck one of the above and/or fully loaded pistol in cab holster.

At home 5 in various places all with one in the chamber. One shot gun in closet with loaded mag nothing in the chamber. AR case with loaded mags, nothing in chamber, kept in closet with 200 rounds in case of zombies. Zombies are known to be slow and clumsy so I have time…

Also have 3 dogs in the house at night. It’s the “Hounds of the Baskervilles” early warning system, followed by loud bangs as needed.

Depends.

I will carry hot and sometimes w empty.

If a lot of lil kids around, chamber is empty.

Unless we get those “World War Z” zombies…they ran like 4.2/40’s.

Always 1 in the camber and mag topped off

Spend enough time in crime-ridden cities and you will always carry with a cartridge in the chamber.

Only time my pistols are unloaded with nothing in the chamber is when they are in my safe.
That said having a 1 year old now, how i keep my pistol has changed. Keeping them locked up by the bed or in the center console im already loosing time I don't know I'll have.
