Do I need to rinse and dry my Katadyn Hiker Pro when I get home from each trip?

You want to clean it...and make sure its 100% dry prior to storage.

Also use supplied grease to lubricate the rubber seals.

Well, I guess I better pull it out tonight and clean and dry it. It's been sitting in its pouch for about a month, what should I expect to see (or smell) when I take it apart?

You'll find dust in it which is the sediment you filtered out.

I've neglected mine more than once...take it apart, run it through the dishwasher, take it out before the dry cycle and let it air dry.

We're too dry here to get much mold growth, but if yours looks moldy I would replace the filter.

I run a bit of bleach/ water combo through mine after every trip and let it air dry for a couple days.
