Do any of you have a Rig just to use in the Mountains

I know a lot of guys here are backpackers.
Was wondering if some of you though have a rig that is mainly used for navigating the mountains from a base camp.
Like a old Jeep or ATV etc.
More than likely after this year i will probably do more rifle hunting than Archery with the current proposal coming up in CO about no more Non Resident Archery OTC....Which I think is a good thing by the way.
Made me kind of wonder with 2nd and 3rd rifle still being open but in a harsher time of year weather wise if a dedicated rig might be something I want to add to the list.

I do now. I used my 96 Tacoma for most of my adventures in the woods.

I run a 1983 Toyota pickup lifted on 33s with a flatbed in the mountains every year.

16 Tacoma is my hunting rig. The Toyotas are sure nice in the woods easy to turn around. 98 dodge 12 valve is my daily driver to work

Yep, my '89 Toyota xtracab 4x4 is mainly used for the mountains and hunting every year. I still drive it around town to keep it running, but if I wasn't in the mountains every year I really wouldn't need it at this point.

One of the neighbor guys by where I grew up was always known as a big "Western Hunter".

He had a new ford F-150 that he only used to go out west. The truck never came out of the garage until he was pointed west. It worked out well for him for 20 years.

If I lived out west, I would have a dedicated taco for sure.

A 1996 XJ Cherokee serves as my mountain rig. I installed a small lift, bumpers and winch, dual batteries, and a heavy duty roof rack. It gets dirty and takes the beatings so my truck can stay nice.

3/4 ton Ram diesel for me. Yup, it's brutal on rough roads. Sure doesn't go where I would like. All I got though (tow/haul a lot, thus the heavy diesel thing). Wish I could afford a second rig, if I could, flat bed Taco (or other smaller P/U) with 35's.

I tried to after trading in my first Colorado zr2, I needed a full size pickup to pull my work boat and completely despise full sized pickups in the woods

I looked for a month, couldn’t find anything i was confident buying. My focus was a samurai, but everything was rough and overpriced

I still like the idea, either getting lucky finding a nice samurai or a 88-early 95 vintage Toyota standard cab 22re that a grandpa owned, I’ve had a couple of them and they were excellent in the woods, probably my favorite for in the hills, pretty much go anywhere and get turned around anywhere

This is my dilemma too as I don't like putting my truck through some of the forest roads. Been looking at XJ Cherokees or probably a Landcruiser/Lexus GL or GX470 because of the better ride for my wife if we go for a ride somewhere. Always liked the Toyota extra cabs from the 90s though too. Insurance rates keep rising here though which I have to figure in my budget.

Had a truck that was too nice to take hunting. Sold it. Bought a tundra and add pin stripes every hunt. Love it.

I just came into a 2010 Fj Cruiser with 99k mi. It's not my daily driver and I plan to make it the ultimate hunt and ski rig. I'd love to talk to anyone else who's built one out a bit. It is awesome.

2nd and third seasons will be earlier in the next 5 year plan starting in 2025.

I have a 2001 Tacoma xtracab for my hunting rig. I gotta get creative just to fit my rifle inside the cab. Much too tiny to daily drive but is nice on the trails as long as your gear storage is on point.
