Progress Update:
First half tut done except for seam sealing.
Second half tut needs some stake loops, the guy outs, and seam sealing.
Received the material for the tarp and will be sewing that up and hopefully
all will be completed by the end of next week.
Was hoping to have a stove built, but running out of time.
This pic shows the height of about 7.5' I am 6'2" tall.

The zipper installation gave me the most apprehension, other than learning to sew.

Love it. Congrats on taking this on. It looks great!

Got the final two zipper halves to sew on, then a few odds and ends.
Pinned the heck out of the zippers.
Looks like I will be camped at the truck this year so no need for the wood burning stove.
I will save that for a winter project.

I mated one zipper together and it slides smoothly, but another was rough.
Hope I don't have to re sew that one in.

Of the four zippers that is on this thing, the portion that was not zipping together had me puzzled.
I decided to try to zip the top part of the tarp to the bottom part of the base zipper.
And wouldn't you know it, it zipped smoothly. I proceeded to rip out the zippers that were installed on the wrong sides.

BUMMER!!!

I spent at least an hour ripping out the first zipper.

I suppose I should change my screen name from "eagle_eye" to "The Seam Ripper"

Should have it ready for next weeks hunt though.
May not get the seam sealing done though and will be lacking a stove jack as well.

Still getting excited to use it for the first time.

Better to do the extra work now then be pissed fighting the zipper every time. I'll bet your excited to try this out.

Finally finished tonight.
Dimensions:
Footprint: 9'6" x 14'
Height: 7'6"
Weight: 3lbs. 1oz. without stakes and line.
More hours than should have been.
Will post some pics when I get it set up.

Well, it's finished, mostly. Still need to seam seal, but looks like the weather will be ok.
Was a good experience.
Can't wait to do my next project.



Will be leaving tomorrow for 4th season elk, Colorado.
Have a left over bull and cow tag.

Used a big buddy heater for heat.
First morning was 4 degrees. Lots of condensation,
but after firing up the BB, it was gone in a matter of minutes.
Didn't get any snow and not much wind.
A successful first run with this tent.
This tent is very roomy.
I had a cot, table, two camp chairs, a couple of bins.
Could probably sleep 4 plus gear in the back country, nice for a base camp for two with cots and maybe four without cots.

Thanks to all who were inspirations to me to get this thing accomplished.

It's been awhile since I've needed to get out my stretched tut, kind of like a SO btb. What I am going to do next is to sew a stove jack in one of the sections. Just torn as to where to install it: in the tarp section or one of the end sections.
Anyone who has experience with the btb have any words of wisdom on which section to put it into?
