I'm getting parts lined out to build a stove and see that ti goat doesn't have ss body stock any more. Am I wrong in assuming that the 12" pipe stock will work for body material?

Yes you can with 12" you will need about 30" long for a 12" lenght body

I use the over 6" from the 36" foil for a damper set.

Simple rods with washers and butterfly nuts.
