DIY Rokstok Lite-ish (The Barnstok)

And then this happened....

Im not sure if I torqued on it at some point and wasnt aware or what but when I removed the action after bedding I had ahold of the middle of the stock holding it upside down. I tapped on the barrel with a rubber mallet and the second I did that the back half literally just fell off.

I didnt expect using fir to be the strongest thing but this still suprised me. Maybe its good it happened now. I glued it back together with titebond and the next day drilled a hole virtically through the grip and inserted 1/4 all thread with epoxy. Just the glue alone should be stronger than the wood but now with the rod re-enforcing the grip I feel pretty confident in it.

Added QD adapters, drilled and tapped hole then inserted with epoxy so hopefully will be secure.
I am somewhat on the fence about these, I havent used a sling in a while but there's times coyote hunting it would be nice to throw over my shoulder. I figured this was better option than traditional location and should carry better.
Something else I did is add ash as pigment to the JB weld to make it black rather than grey and I really like it.
