I finally had time to sit down and work on my pyramid tent. I found the design on BPL and had to purchase the tutorial for $5. The instructions definitely helped, but there is still no easy way to sew 9' seams. I'm not super excited with the way it turned out, but I still need some practice to find the right pitch. The catenary curves look a little off in the pictures, but I think it's just the way I have it pitched. Here are a few pictures of the finished project.

Had a little goof in the seam at the top of the zipper....oh well!

I still have to build a stuff sack for the tent and pole, so i don't have any information on the weight yet. I'm going to set it up and seam seal it if the weather ever cooperates. I'm hoping to set it up and leave it for a few days to test it out in the wind and rain.

Good stuff! Nice work, the only thing I might add would be more tie outs on the bottom and at least one halfway up each panel.

I'm planning on adding tie outs at the bottom of each seam on 3 of the sides to help tighten things up a bit. I have line-locs that will be added to the middle of the panels. I'm just not sure how the tie outs halfway up the sides will affect the pitch.

I think it looks great. I really want to find time to make one. How much did you end up spending? How tall did it end up being?

I've maybe got $100 invested into this project. I wasn't buying stuff for only this project, so I would have to go through and itemize everything to get the exact amount. I estimated the proper height to be 61.5 inches based on my measurements. When I set it up for the first time, I realized that I could have used a few extra inches, so I'll be ordering new pole sections to fix the mistake. The height in the center with the new poles will be around 64-65".

9 yards of silnylon
64" - #5 coil zipper
300D nylon (apex reinforcement)
13 yards - 5/8" or 3/4" gross grain (I used grosss grain around the bottom instead of the rolled hem)
8 - 1/2" ladder lock buckles
8' - 1/2" nylon webbing
1 - 1/2" grommet
4 - 18" sections of 5/8" aluminum pole from tentpoletechnologies (2 sections w/insert and 2 w/out insert)
