DIY chassis

Got the tail end contoured today. Not sure about any more significant weight relief cuts. The side walls are about .250 with a bit more to clean up. May still take a ball nose end mill and cut some grooves just for texture.

That contouring is really nice man. Pretty cool look to it. I think the mdt vertical is a perfect match for the frame.

Went and did some more testing today. Tried some sized bullets and it went poorly. It appears my barrel may have a bit of a burr on the end that needs cleaned up. The sized bullets were HARD to get started like I needed a short starter then once they finally popped past that the weight of the ramrod took them down which I knew wouldn’t work well. I just didn’t know how bad. 2 fury star tips are circled in red and one missed the paper , 2 arrowhead Xld keyholed, and 3 Hornady bore drivers shot pretty dang good with some wild wind today. Think I may try to kiss the end of that barrel with a counter sink to take that burr out.

Now you can laugh at guys who say they “built” their rifle when they really just bolted together a few parts made by different manufacturers.

Kicking around ideas for thy last part. I’m thinking of milling out some contours in the sides and debating what to do and would some input from you all.
You’ll have to use your imagination a bit but could mill in either of those two options. What say you? Stripes or a trapezoid?
Not a ton of weight to be cut either way just adding some texture so it doesn’t look as brick esque.
