So….I had a camo beanie made by Under Armour that was micro fleece with a silky smooth spandex type of liner on the inside. This made it so you could layer it under another hat without ever feeling a burning hot spot sensation from your hair getting all mashed in one spot. I used to play football (long before owning this beanie), and honestly, this would’ve been great for cold weather games. It was tight and low profile enough to be worn under a football helmet if need be.

It also fit my dome perfectly (maybe because I just wore it so much). It wasn’t one of those “not nearly deep enough” types of beanies that feels like it was made for a child- I didn’t have to keep yanking it down to cover my ears, but it also didn’t cover any part of my eyes at full deployment either. It was thin enough to fit comfortably inside a hard hat during a cold day at work, and still warm enough that I rarely needed any additional hat to stay warm.

I believe I have lost it for good now, and all the current products are shaped much differently, made of a thicker fleece material, none have the nice spandex liner material on the inside. They are always either so loose that they allow a draft around my ears, or so small that I feel like I’m wearing one of those stupid rainbow skull cap thingy’s from the movie UP with the little propeller on the top.

JUST wondering…
A) if anyone knows of a comparable product to replace my beloved UA beanie as described above
…and
B) What is your most-missed discontinued hunting/outdoor product that you wish was still available?
What made it so much better than the current alternatives?
This sounds like a cross-country skiing style beanie. Also found in cold weather bicycling for wearing under a helmet.

Now that Montana has a sidelock muzzleloader season, it'd be nice if there were additional quality rifle options. That's why I'm going with the Lyman Great Plains Hunter Rifle with the fast twist barrel. They are pretty sought after now if you can find one.

Agree. I have a Cabelas wooltimate pullover with wind blocker (wind whear I think they called it). Been using it for almost 20 years and it's still the item I reach for when wind chills are below zero.
Cabelas bargain cave

I used to look forward to going into the bargain cave. I got so much cabelas branded wool from there in the middle of july. The wooltimate with wind shear is still my go to hooded pullover along with a nice set of bibs in grey. And i snagged red checkered cabelas 'mackinaw cruiser'. Items i got 10 years ago and will probably die with as they show minimal wear at this point.

I read the 118 zip offs are very similar, any insite?
From the Kuiu website and a post I saw somewhere on here I believe the 118’s are not as warm, but I haven’t seen the 118s so I can’t say for sure. I assume the 118 is more of a poly wicking layer, the 97 is a light fleece layer

I believe I have one of those that I still wear, mines black but it’s just like you described. Those things are great. I got a first lite brimmed merino beanie for hunting and liked it so good I got another one for work, keeps the sun out of you eyes and it keeps it in place and don’t slide around your head and it’s pretty much the perfect warmth. I don’t wear the UA one near as much anymore

The older version jetstream… where the wrist cuffs didn’t rip just trying them on… poor quality now on several items.

When fleet farm would buy your deer hide or give you a pair of leather gloves.

Cabelas before it turned into a department store.

When this country was not so morally challenged because God had not been removed from everything.
