Is it a better idea to break things loose from time to time? Or just leave things alone until the time comes?

For example I’ve got an Omega 300 that has a 1/2-28 DT mount. It currently lives on a specific rifle, but someday I’m sure I’ll want to put it back on a 5/8-24 mount. I’m not sure if it’s a better idea to crack it loose from the barrel occasionally, break the mount loose from the suppressor body, etc — or just leave it alone? I could see constantly tightening and loosening creating its own headaches.

I’m just paranoid after a couple 1000 rounds over 2 years, I won’t be able to get it apart. I’m also paranoid if I keep taking it apart I’ll eventually mess up the mount or threads or something. I’m probably overthinking this but I’m just curious how long it takes to really lock these things together and also to understand any tips/tricks along these lines.

I'd take it off at least every couple hundred rounds. Unless you actually cross thread it, shouldn't do any damage at all to the threads on either the suppressor or the barrel.

I would leave it alone and only take it loose when you have a purpose to do it. It’s true that the longer it’s on and the more crud and heat / cool cycles it endures the harder it might be to get loose. But a 10 min soak in a tiny amount of Kroil will solve that problem easy. Amazing stuff.

I break mine loose fairly often. I can't imagine it doing any damage. I've battled a minor carbon lock before. If it locked up tight enough, I know I could damage it trying to break it loose.
